(Calgary & Area)
In the spring of 2008, fifty-plus representatives from numerous Calgary & Area agencies and organizations attended a forum entitled “Addressing the Comprehensive Medical Needs of Youth At-Risk”. One outcome of that day was endorsement for an ongoing working group, facilitated by SACYHN, which began to meet in October of 2008.
The working group is focused on three priority areas of work:
- Improving Service Delivery to youth at-risk. Work together to improve, enhance, and intentionally connect a growing network of care in the region that better addresses the comprehensive health needs of this population. Of particular interest is improving access to and relevancy of such services – with input from youth.
- Developing a Community of Practice (CoP) that would allow practitioners in our region to communicate, collaborate, share information and resources and better understand what services and resources are currently available (and evolving) in relation to this population.
- Coordinating, collaborating on, and informing direction for research related to health and mental health for At-Risk Youth.
This new webpage is under development. We intend to build in an online professional forum for those in our community providing medical services to youth at-risk. Questions, information, documents and useful tools and tips will be exchanged in that forum (will require registration).
We will post links to the partners involved in this work. More information is coming soon….
